At KidsWish, we aim to bring joy and opportunities to children and families of the Illawarra who are living with disability or illness. For a lot of these families, life is tough – presenting additional challenges beyond the normal day-to-day struggles faced by families.
We want to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we support by providing special experiences and opportunities for them to grow, learn, have fun and feel like a valued member of their community.
KidsWish is committed to fulfilling the lives of children with a disability or illness and their families through supportive programs, community-impact projects and special events, with a goal of building an inclusive community that can be enjoyed by all.
KidsWish loves to host specially tailored events for the children and families we support.
These are two of our upcoming events:
KidsFest Shellharbour is the longest running FREE week long children’s festival in NSW. Events are held across a range of venues in Shellharbour in May.
Activities are ‘hands on’ giving children experiences to create, explore and discover. Events are hosted by community service organisations, supported by local businesses to develop an increased sense of inclusion and belonging.
A special event for children with disabilities is being held on Tuesday 24th May at the NSW Rural Fire Control Centre in Albion Park Rail for SSP school groups and parents/carers to bring their children to.
This will be a great opportunity for children to learn about fire safety and meet emergency services personnel so they can feel comfortable around ‘helper friends’ if there is ever an emergency.
KidsWish have partnered with We Rock the Spectrum Wollongong to provide a special opportunity for KidsWish children to benefit from this amazing sensory play space.
This specially designed, sensory-friendly, and fun environment will
encourage learning and exploration, providing a safe and supportive space for children to make friends, keep active, develop skills, and build their confidence and independence.
Held after school with fruit and water to be served for afternoon tea. Session is FREE however spaces are limited, with reservations required. Parent/Carer supervision is essential.
KidsWish is committed to providing free group programs to children with a disability or illness. Research supports that group programs can assist children to meet their social, emotional and physical goals and to feel a part of their community. They provide a safe and supportive environment for children and families to share their experiences, gain support and learn from each other. Limited funding for group programs can be an issue for some families, and it is our mission to help bridge this gap so children can benefit from the experiences group programs offer.
With your support, KidsWish can continue to provide free programs, host special events and help to build an inclusive community that can be enjoyed by all.
