KidsWish Science Spectacular 2024
The KidsWish Science Spectacular returned for its third year, on Thursday 26 September, offering children living with disability or illness and their families exclusive access to the incredible Science Space
80 golfers took to The Links Golf Course at Shell Cove on Friday 20 September for the 2024 KidsWish Golf Day. The sun was shining, and the weather conditions set the scene for a fantastic day. Players started their day with a delicious breakfast wrap and coffee before loading their carts and making their way to their tee-off for the 4-person Ambrose event.
Players were greeted by KidsWish volunteers at various holes around the course where players stood the chance to win some amazing prizes including a car valued at $40,000 thanks to our Hole-in-one sponsor Wollongong Mazda.
Players were welcomed back to Il Lago Tavern following the game where they enjoyed a hearty lunch. Team prizes were awarded to first, second and third with the Winner’s perpetual trophy going to one of the Finance Control Teams for the second year in a row.
The players from the first placed team took home a rod and reel combo donated by Shimano as well as $50 Drummond Golf gift bags. 2nd place players received a $200 merchandise pack from Wollongong Mazda along with a dozen balls supplied by The Links. 3rd place players went home with a laptop backpack containing earbuds and drink bottle donated by Officeworks as well as a Honda umbrella donated by Wrights Chainsaws and $20 Bunnings vouchers.
The moment that stole the hearts of everyone in the room was when one of the players spoke about his son’s disability and what KidsWish means to his family.
The event raised over $26,000 for KidsWish which will support the free programs and events KidsWish provide for children living with disability or illness. We could not have had this level of success without our event sponsors, where we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the following sponsors:
$5,000 Silver Sponsor – The O’Hara Group Hotels; including North Nowra Tavern, The Berkeley Hotel, Warilla Hotel and Lake Illawarra Hotel.
$2,500 Bronze Sponsors – CBC Group, Proud Living Co and JB Metropolitan Distributors
$1,000 Hole Sponsors – Finance Control, Macey Insurance, Integrity Pumps and Zero Rentals.
We received an enormous level of support from businesses in the Illawarra with 20 teams entered and numerous donations for raffle and auction prizes for which we are extremely grateful.
With the KidsWish Golf Day continuing to grow its success, we look forward to another great event next year.
We’d love to hear how yourself or someone you know has been impacted by KidsWish.
