On Thursday 4 December, KidsWish families from across the Illawarra and beyond came together for a celebration filled with smiles, surprises and festive fun. From the moment families arrived (many dressed in their Christmas best), the excitement was in the air — with roving characters, Santa himself, toys galore and plenty of happy faces all around.
As tummies started to rumble, our amazing friends from Rapid Relief Team AU fired up a delicious sausage sizzle to keep everyone well fed, while our wonderful volunteers were treated to fresh fruit thanks to the generous support of Leisure Coast Fruit Market & Deli.
The main stage was bursting with energy as Lyndal and Crammy from Wave FM 96.5 hosted a fantastic line-up of performers. From the jaw-dropping tricks of Circus Monoxide to sing-along favourites from The Music Makers, plus high-energy performances from KidsWish KidsGroove, KidsRock and The Rockits Band, there was music, dancing and festive cheer from start to finish.
And the fun didn’t stop there! Around the park, kids tried their hand at sporting challenges with the St George Illawarra Dragons and The Disability Trust Sport & Recreation team, enjoyed magical character meet-and-greets with Fairy Fantasy Parties, The Cosplay Guardian, Illawarra Mercury, and Cliff Dorian and crew. LEGO play stations were buzzing thanks to Gonglug, and the silent disco — proudly supported by The Illawarra Hotel — kept the dance floor pumping well into the afternoon!
It was a truly unforgettable day for KidsWish families, volunteers, staff — and even our furry and feathered friends at Symbio. Every laugh, cuddle and moment of joy was a reminder of what makes KidsWish so special.
