KidsWish Science Spectacular 2024
The KidsWish Science Spectacular returned for its third year, on Thursday 26 September, offering children living with disability or illness and their families exclusive access to the incredible Science Space
Thousands of children and families flocked to the 6th Annual Illawarra Brick show held on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April, which has seen over $30,000 raised in support of KidsWish. Graham Draper from GongLUG, who are a small group of AFOL’s (Adult fans of LEGO), hosted the event and has been proudly supporting KidsWish through this event since it began.
The main attraction at this year’s event was a scaled model of the Golden Gate Bridge measuring approximately 15m long and just over 2m high. Guests could get up close and personal with LEGO Master stars including Fleur Watkins from season 3 and Alex Towler from season 4 and the current Grand Masters season. The raffle attracted a lot of attention, seeing one lucky family walk away with over $2,000 worth of LEGO!
This year’s event welcomed Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club as a sponsor, with their support contributing to the event’s fundraising efforts. The money raised will support the free programs and events that KidsWish provide for children living with disability or illness. The challenges faced by these families, along with limited funding, can make attending programs and events difficult. Emily Wright, the events and fundraising manager for KidsWish says “KidsWish strive to provide special opportunities and experiences for families, and it is through the ongoing support of the Illawarra community that we can continue to build a community that can be enjoyed by all”.
Graham and the KidsWish team are looking forward to bringing an even bigger and better brick show to the Illawarra in 2024.
