KidsWish Christmas Party 2025: A Very Merry Day at Symbio Wildlife Park
What do you get when you mix Christmas cheer, wildlife adventures, music, laughter and a whole lot of magic? The 2025 KidsWish Christmas Party at Symbio Wildlife Park — and
This January, KidsWish families had plenty of exciting options to choose from, with three free events designed for children living with disability or illness and their families. From a beach awareness day to a silent disco and a sports and crafts day, there was something for everyone.
KidsWish events are all about offering kids a chance to develop social skills, try new things, and, most importantly, have fun in a safe and supportive environment. It was heartwarming to hear from parents and carers that their children felt comfortable to socialise, participate, and truly come out of their shells at these events.
“All in for the Sea” with Windang Surf Club
The beach awareness day, held in collaboration with Windang Surf Life Saving Club, was a huge hit! 20 children were invited to learn all about beach safety and what it takes to be a life saver, thanks to Windang Surf Club’s vice captain, Alyssa Norris. The kids loved sitting in the life saving and patrol vehicles, and a fun game of hide-and-seek using walkie talkies kept everyone on their toes! They also learned about CPR, sun safety, and got to see ocean-safe dye demonstrate how a rip works from the vantage point of the beach tower.
Silent Disco at KidsWish House
When it comes to fun, you can’t go wrong with a silent disco! The Illawarra Hotel provided the headsets and the children brought the moves. There was dancing, there was games, hula-hoops and ribbon sticks twirling through the air. For those who needed a breather, there was a cozy quiet zone with colouring, a movie, and a chance to recharge. The smiles on the faces said it all—it was an event to remember!
Sports and Crafts Day at KidsWish House
To wrap up the holidays, we combined two fan favourites—sports and crafts! Around 30 children enjoyed friendly games on the indoor basketball court and got creative in the craft area, making everything from butterflies and spiders to keyrings and LEGO® creations. The day was full of energy, creativity, and laughter. And, of course, no event at KidsWish would be complete without a BBQ lunch to fuel all the fun!
We’d love to hear how yourself or someone you know has been impacted by KidsWish.
